A prosthesis is an artificial prosthesis specially designed, manufactured, and fitted using engineering techniques to compensate for amputees or those with incomplete limb loss. Its main function is to replace some of the lost limb's functions, enabling amputees to regain a certain level of self-care and work ability. It is suitable for amputees due to illness, traffic accidents, workplace injuries, sports injuries, etc.
Classification of Prostheses. Prostheses can be classified according to structure, function, fitting time, amputation site, power source, and materials used. However, the most common classification method is based on the amputation site, dividing them into upper limb prostheses and lower limb prostheses.
