3D Systems Expands European Dental 3D Printing Footprint: NextDent 300 Secures MDR Certification, Partners With BioSummer Dental
Nov 06, 2026
2 November - 3D Systems is scaling up its dental additive manufacturing business across Europe via a new distribution partnership with French dental specialist BioSummer Dental. The agreement covers the NextDent 300 MultiJet 3D printing system for dental prosthetics. The supporting materials, NextDent Jet Base denture base resin and NextDent Jet Teeth artificial teeth resin, obtained EU MDR Class IIa certification back in April. The integrated workflow enables dental labs to batch-produce monolithic full dentures digitally, accelerating the expansion of digital denture capacity across Europe.
Powered by MultiJet Printing (MJP) technology, the NextDent 300 prints the denture base and artificial teeth in one single build. Unlike traditional workflows where teeth are bonded separately after printing, this monolithic solution cuts manual assembly and bonding steps, improves part consistency and throughput, and is well suited for high-volume laboratories focused on removable full-arch prostheses. The MDR-certified resin portfolio meets EU requirements for biocompatibility, mechanical durability and clinical safety for long-term intraoral use, removing key regulatory barriers for commercial rollout within the bloc.
BioSummer Dental, an established French dental distributor, will handle local demonstrations, technical training, after-sales support and customer adoption across France and neighbouring regions. Its deep understanding of local lab workflows, clinical practices and ANSM regulatory requirements will support the transition from conventional wax-up and compression moulding to digital batch denture production.
Industry commentators note that full denture production in Europe remains heavily manual, with high labour costs and long lead times. Integrated digital printing is seen as a major route to greater efficiency. Against the backdrop of stricter MDR enforcement, fully certified end-to-end denture printing platforms are in high demand. This distribution deal follows material certification and marks the official commercial push for the jetted denture system in Western Europe. It will drive further growth in local digital prosthetic capacity and serve as a benchmark for Chinese dental labs and equipment suppliers targeting the EU market.
