Invisible aligners are computer-designed, transparent, removable devices made of safe, elastic, and transparent polymer materials. They work in conjunction with transparent attachments on the outer surface of the teeth to precisely apply force, adjusting the position of misaligned teeth, improving jawbone relationships, and adapting to changes in periodontal supporting tissues.
Based on the technological approach and wearing location, invisible aligners are mainly divided into two categories: bracketless aligners and lingual aligners. Bracketless aligners are custom-made from transparent medical polymer materials into a series of removable aligners worn on the outer surface of the teeth. These aligners have high market acceptance; brands such as Invisalign and Angelalign use this type of product.
Lingual aligners are bonded to the inner surface of the teeth, making them completely invisible. Lingual aligners may cause discomfort and are more difficult to clean.
